Don Siegel certainly deserves credit for this solid, entertaining noir -- but the genius at work here was Ida Lupino, a true pioneer who not only starred in PRIVATE HELL 36 but also co-wrote and co-produced through her production company The Filmmakers.
Lupino was one of the greats.
