Review of Prisoners (2013) by Yash B — 08 Apr 2015
"Prisoners" is a rare mystery-thriller that leaves you baffled until the very end. The tense tone is prominent throughout the film and it might be difficult for a parent to watch. I was absolutely riveted by the quiet build up and the sheer frustration of the characters.
My heart was racing in countless scenes. Hugh Jackman gives one of his best performances to date and the rest of the cast is brilliant as well. The movie also raises a lot of moral questions about whether certain actions are justifiable.
The ending of this film was smart but it could've have been more conclusive. Also the film is just a touch longer than maybe was necessary. Nonetheless, this is an engrossing picture that keeps you guessing until its final moments.
