Review of Prison Break: The Final Break (2009) by Renny M — 25 Nov 2009
As heart pounding as the series was, and yet, it's not like one long episode or two put together. It plays out like a real movie. The events in Final Break take place about 3 or 3 1/2 years before the flashback sequence that is shown at the end of the final episode of season four.
Weeks after being exonerated, Michael and Sara tie the knot, but while the celebration is going on police show up and arrest Sara. She is charged with the shooting of Christine Rose, Michael's mother, despite the fact that she was protecting Michael at the time as his mother had him at gunpoint, ready to pull the trigger. No one back home in the USA, not the federal authorities nor the warden of the prison where Sara is sent care a smidgen about the circumstances or that it wasn't murder. Exhausting all legal avenues, Michael takes on the task of breaking Sara out of the Miami-Dade Correctional facility where she is locked up with plenty of nasty characters, including guards who have a vendetta against her for Fox River. To make matters worse, General Krantz finds out in the neighboring mens facility and puts a hit on Sara.
It was great seeing Michael in action again along with the solid team of his brother Lincoln, Fernando Sucre and Alex Mahone. Finding out why Michael dies and that it wasn't just because the brain tumor came back (something that is hinted at in season four's last episode). Great prequel-ish outing. Farewell, Prison Break, it's been absolutely lovely.
