Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Eric B — 10 Oct 2011
I expected a lot from this movie. I loved the game it was based on, I enjoyed the casting news and the trailer was promising. So was it as good as I had hoped? No, not really. But it wasn't bad either.
Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton were okay, though I thought that Arterton's character was a bit too generic I-will-crush-your-balls-if-you-even-look-at-my-way lady. The stunts were great, the setting was excellently made and the story, while cliché, kept me entertained.
There a lot of other clichés, like talks about trusting your heart and choosing your own destiny, that were really irritating, but... what can you do? So yeah, while this could have been a lot better, it wasn't a total failure either.
An average action film, nothing less.
