Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Ryan M — 01 Feb 2012
You think with the same production team as the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, Prince of Persia would get the same treatment. I mean, Pirates was a ride at Disney made into one of the highest grossing movies of all time. So the question is, why did they not treat a very popular video game series they way they should have?
I'm not bashing the film in any way. Jake Gyllenhaal was perfect for the Prince, Gemma Arterton was beautiful and played a great damsel in distress, Alfred Molina was very funny, and Ben Kingsley....... was Ben Kingsley. The Sands of Time is the first in the Prince of Persia trilogy so I'm sure the upcoming films will surpass this one. I guess what I'm trying to say is, the film was good but they could have done sooo much more with it.
All in all, this is THE best video game-to-film adaptation. It's a fun action adventure for the family and a great roller coaster ride. It's also a good date movie. Guys will love the action and Gemma Arterton while girls will fall for Jake Gyllenhaal and the good love story.
