Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Daniel L — 12 Oct 2012
Now please keep in mind that I watched this film in its official Russian translated version so my experience will differ greatly from yours. This means I was able to appreciate this movie more for its plot, the musical score, and the relationships established between the characters which were very refreshing when juxtaposed against the more "traditional" narrative of family rivalry that usually takes place in fairy tale films.
The way the brothers cared for one another and the way the prince Dastan was concerned, not with being a hero but with setting right certain wrongs while avoiding the womanizing persona that's so typical of the Hollywood swashbuckling mystic--all of this was pleasantly refreshing.
I enjoyed the movie thoroughly, but I will admit that I would not see it in its original "American" version for fear it will ruin my initial experience.
