Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Csh T — 13 Oct 2012
I loved the game (okay, I admit: I loved watching other ppl play the game) so I was looking forward to seeing the movie. Kinda blued out that I didn't see it in the cinema - the cinematography cries out for a really big screen and the score is very lush, definitely needs Dolby surround sound.
Plotwise, yeah, pretty basic with a "Dallas" twist but seriously, it's Disney: standard "Slumdog millionaire boy meets royal Princess" formula that could've seriously gone wrong so I appreciate they left it pretty much bog standard and spent their energy on the really good cast and the luscious sets.
If you, like I, just wanted a really fun time with your feet up on the coffee table and a giant bowl of popcorn in your hand that won't get launched at the screen and that will leave you smiling at the end of the movie, this is a good one for that.
Btw: comment was made about the ADHD editing - I like that in a film. If something's not blowing up or exploding about every 3.2 seconds, I just can't keep my focus.
