Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Craig G — 10 Nov 2012
I can not help but think the traditional snobbery towards movies spawned from computer games still exists when I see the rating this film has on this website.
I had my doubts because I realize that there have been admittedly terrible movies based on gaming licenses, but this is far from a terrible example of one.
Without giving anything away, it has to be said that Ben Kingsley and Jake Gyllenhaal are both very good in their respective roles, with Kingsley bringing a certain dignity to his character and Gyllenhaal the charismatic and likeable hero.
When the movie is made by Disney, you can be rest assured that they spare no expense, and this is no different as you will witness through the very impressive special effects on display.
The environments are stunning and really make the film that much more enjoyable.
With plenty of well-choreographed stunts, fights and other action scenes, there is something here for even those not familiar with the prince of persia franchise.
Best video game movie I have seen.
