Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010) by Graham M — 05 Sep 2013
While this is probably the best video game adaptation I've yet seen, that is only because it has abysmal standards to work against. There's effort to include as many elements from the games as possible; the acrobatics, the time reversal, the evil vizier, but then bogs it down with generic fight scenes, overdone CGI and forgettable secondary characters. The sole saving grace is probably Gyllenhaal himself, who actually looks the part and matches the well-spoken, slightly smug Prince from the games. And for those who complained about having a white American actor as the lead; you do realise the game character is also white and voiced by an American?
Overall it's a step in the right direction for video game adaptations but only a very small one.
