Review of Prince of Darkness (1987) by Shawn R — 25 Sep 2017
Prince of Darkness is a red headed step child to most. But I've had this film for years and it seems to get better and better. It's my late summer/early Fall go to. Most Horror will keep things black and white; Science Or Religion. This has both. In my humble opinion, I find it refreshing to see the 2 work together. The soundtrack is one of Carpenters best, creepiest works he's done and I can't compare the plot to anything I've ever seen. Yeah, the character development is a little weak and it was 1987, the special effects weren't going to be great on a 3M budget, but John didn't need much to show this films creativity and Donald is, as always, a consummate professional.
Like a lot of Great albums, I had to give them a couple listens before I realize how great they were. The same applies for this movie. It's a cult classic in my book.
