Review of Primeval (2007) by Krista B — 26 Jun 2007
The trailer said it was a slasher film. Okay, so it turns out that Primeval's "serial killer" is actually a monster crocodile. All right, a four-legged, scaly Jaws that can chase people on land! Actually, that too is a coverup.
What Primeval ACTUALLY is is a horror movie view on the political situation in Africa. Interesting topic for a film, but not when you're expecting a giant man-eating crocodile in place of the serial killer you were initially promised.
Anyway, the relatively short amount of time devoted to the crocodile is well done, with excellent effects, and the cast is really very lovable. In fact, this would be a really fun, frightening movie .
. . if only the filmmakers had decided exactly what it was they were making a movie about to begin with.
