Review of Primeval (2007) by Lite L — 28 Nov 2007
Generally speaking, crocodile movies are few and far between. But decent croc movies...don't exist. Ever since 'Lake Placid' sank without a trace, I felt that a good croc movie had to be made and thought that this movie can't be as bad as 'Lake Placid'.
Well...it is! 'Primeval' is one of the worst movies of 2007 so far (next to 'Epic Movie'), and one of the worst movies ever made! This film is just a lame war movie with a crocodile. The gore was quite satisfying, yes, and the cinematography was stunning, but on the other hand there is the movie.
This movie sucked. Plain and simple. The script was utterly dismal, the characters weren't remotely likable, the crocodile looked pathetic and the film wasn't at all thrilling. After the first crocodile attack I was laughing because the quick cutting made it seem so lame.
I find it interesting when the croc attacks so fast in the first half, then in the second half it goes slowly just so we can get a good look at it. And the plot for those interested is about some team that goes to Africa to capture a giant croc (that they laughably call a 'serial killer') that has been eating people.
Of course their capture methods fail and people get eaten as you would expect. And there are a few soldiers that are mixed in there, trying to kill the protagonists. Primeval is a laughably bad film. It isn't scary, the visual effects were horrible, and the script was so lame.
Avoid at all costs.
