Review of Primeval (2007) by Aidan H — 24 Feb 2009
If it had been made with a bottom-scraping budget and had a glove puppet for a monster then this mediocre horror might have had some so-bad-its-good factor to it. As it is, its expensive SFX and production values merely expose how bad it really is. Lighting and camerawork aside, The Primeval's bland cast, with its obligatory bimbo, funny black guy and dodgy foreigner swap fortune cookie dialogue while we wait an inordinate amount of time for the monster to show. When it does, the gore promised by a intestine-splattered credit sequence fails to deliver as does the pathetic attempt at political messaging. A croc indeed.
1 star for the sometimes impressive editing and action choreography.
