Review of Primer (2004) by Brandon S — 01 Jul 2013
A weighty, challenging sci-fi thriller that is unquestionably brilliant, but begins to drag severely in the second half. That aside this film is a gem of gritty style and storytelling. Shane puts things in front of you that you may not understand, but are still compelled by.
Shane orchestrates some really great cinematography, convincing performances, razor-sharp editing and an intriguingly realistic explanation of time travel. Shane Carruth will definitely leave quite a benchmark in the independent film scene with this probing and poignant work of art.
