Review of Primer (2004) by Kanaka S — 16 May 2010
An amazing low-budget film with a sci-fi plot but an indie drama feel. Not only does it capture that sense of discovery in science but also the type of secrets and backstabbing that come with major discoveries.
This is not a film that talks down to its audience; expect to be thinking about what happened long after you've seen it. As one critic put it: "anybody who claims [to] fully understand what's going on in Primer after seeing it just once is either a savant or a liar.
".
