Review of Primer (2004) by Trevor L — 11 May 2011
My brain absolutely hurts. It is painful to try to understand the paradoxes riddled throughout this movie. Go back in time to play the stock market? Ok. Go back in time to stop a shooting, and become heroes? Awesome.
.. Kidnap your own doubles so you can (SPOILER WARNING) Run away to France to build a bigger time machine because yours doesn't go back in time fast enough? It hurts my mid level intellect!!! That being said, 'Primer' is a gritty, realistic, and brutal look at realistic time travel.
I hardly blinked, and there was never a dull moment, though admittedly, the super complex non-linear story line makes little sense to those without a 4 digit IQ, it can be followed, and thoroughly enjoyed without understanding all the time-space jargon in between trips to earlier this afternoon.
