Review of Primer (2004) by Tim W — 20 Oct 2012
Even after watching this brilliant, low-key twisty morality yarn, I still needed a literal map to navigate what is really happening at any given moment. Like a Pynchon novella, it's deceptively short, as the narrative thread starts to purposely unravel after the 45 minute mark.
Single-handedly, this film may have spurned a sci-fi Renaissance distinguishing itself away from flash and spectacle and more towards intellectual deciphering and moral quandary.
