Review of Primer (2004) by Rendan L — 02 Jul 2015
The story gets both intriguing and complicated in the second half. I lost the track of what actually is happening (or happened, or will happen). This disorientation is deliberately delivered by the main conceit of the story of time travel.
Yet the critical question asks: if you can time-travel, what would you do? The height of this movie lies in its probing of the philosophic unspooling of such ability. What we can do is Not equal to what should do.
A minute move to the side of profiteering quickly get out of control; at step 1, we don't have control on step N, because the momentum would be beyond our capacity to understand at Step 1. A solemn thought at the age of tech-joy.
