Review of Primal Fear (1996) by Deb S — 21 Feb 2010
Richard Gere gives a great performance as a prominent defense attorney who jumps at the chance to represent Aaron Stampler, a young, stammering altar boy accused of murdering the city's archbishop.
Stampler admits to having been with the archbishop at the time of the murder but claims that an unknown third person committed the crime while he had blacked out. After being arrested and interrogated, however, Aaron becomes Roy, his split personality.
Roy is a confident, tough-talking sociopath who dishes up the truth about the sex-deviate priest who abused Aaron and others. The twist comes into play as you try to figure out who to believe.Gere comes to believe that his client is truly innocent but there is a very surprising ending, you won't see it coming a mile away.
