Review of Priest (2011) by David D — 29 Jul 2013
This is another movie where I may benefit from never having read the graphic novel (or manhwa) it is based on and which I understand it diverges greatly from. It begins with an original concept of man versus vampire history but soon turns into a rehashing of a variety of horror cliches.
The result, in my opinion, isn't a bad screenplay but it also isn't an especially good one. The execution also falls in that middle ground of being pretty good but not excellent. I'd say that it edges a bit above three stars but doesn't make it to four stars.
Worth watching but I won't be anxiously awaiting the sequel, which I'm quite sure the filmmakers are planning on.
