Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Calvin C — 06 Feb 2016
If you are a fan of the actual Pride and Prejudice novel, then you will like how key scenes make it into the movie. If you are a fan of zombies, you will be disappointed. There was a chance here to make a badass, tongue-in-cheek fun zombie flick. Instead, we get very little zombie action and most of the killings are done in dark lit areas where you can't see anything. The PG-13 rating also hurts it as there could have been lot more blood and guts. It is a zombie flick after all. I have seen Walking Dead episodes more violent then this movie. It was obvious that there was a lot that was left on the table. The cast is all game, including Matt Smith who is a welcomed comic relief. Also, Lilly James plays a decent Elizabeth Bennet in the lead role. The cast is what really makes the movie entertaining which is why my rating is higher then it should be. If only the zombies could have been as great.
Grade: B.
