Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Korry S — 06 Feb 2016
This movie totally succeeds where Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter failed. It was beautifully shot & adapted by Burr Steers. Though high on camp, as it should be, Lily James, Sam Riley, Bella Heathcote, Jack Huston, Lena Headey, and the rest of the crew played it completely straight.
It was treated by all involved as a serious Jane Austen film...only with the added zombie love. Of course the performance that steals the show is from none other than the Eleventh Doctor himself, Matt Smith, who plays these awkward, quirky characters extremely well.
This was a major improvement to his brief appearance in Terminator Genisys. If you wanna go to the movies to have fun, enjoy some romance, laugh, and take in some 19th century zombie slayings...this is your film.
