Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Intuciic . — 19 Sep 2016
About as enjoyable as I thought it would be. Based on the 2009 novel which itself is a parody of Pride & Prejudice mixed with zombies. Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) and her sisters have been trained from youth in Chinese martial arts to help survive and battle the strange zombie outbreak that has taken over the world.
She meets Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) at a ball one day who becomes smitten with her when he see's her prowess with a weapon. Thus begins the back and forth romance/hatred toward each other leading to Elizabeth uncovering a dastardly plot.
I don't want to get much into it since the film is kinda garbage. Action is decent, but the story never hooked me. It has a nice twist with the whole Pride & Prejudice connection, but it really could have just been a zombie film set in old England.
I will say the zombies look fantastic in this one credit to the makeup department for making some super creepy one's. The actings flat though (although Lily James is straight eye candy) and I never cared about the relationships.
This is only a rental if you're a fan of the book or super interested in it. Everyone else steer clear and save yourself two hours of utter nonsense.
