Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Jim K — 17 Feb 2016
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is an original and clever take on the series. But the film has to introduce countless backstories and concepts in order to make the "zombie" aspect fit in with Jane Austen's classic.
A strong cast who would be excellent in a classic take on the novel, but lack the ability to transcend the genre into a more comic story, with the possible exception of Matt Smith. However, this cannot be blamed entirely on the cast, any film based on a literary classic (Pride and Prejudice (without Zombies)) should have strong scriptwriters.
While lacking the ability to be a good zombie movie for horror fans and a timeless love story for bookworms, PP&Z seems stuck between genres.
