I do not see the prejudice (Haha) with people not liking the "overly serious tone" of such classic stories with horror elements. What do you expect? Comedy? Only because it is, as said in the critic consensus, a "silly/kooky mashup"? Please.
DO NOT GO SEE IT FOR COMEDY! Just because it is a parody, it is not that, not in the least. It is actually a very beautiful romantic drama film with horror elements. Go see it and take it for what it is.
. I highly recommend it, if that is what you're looking for. It will not disappoint!
