Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016) by Steven B — 10 Feb 2016
I've had a long relationship with Jane Austens' 'Pride and Prejudice.' I have read the book (seriously, I have) seen the movie, gone to the play and in all cases I found myself saying, 'what this needs is some Zombies.
' Well a few years ago Seth Grahame-Smith heard me and took the book, long out of copyright, and whenever it came to a boring bit (which is pretty often) he interjected Zombies. Well, Burr Steers has brought it to the screen and a great adaptation.
There is something for everyone here; heaving bosoms, tangled love, sophisticated dialogue, lots of swashes being bucked, and Zombies, lots of Zombies. A good number of critics didn't like this and I think it's basically because they didn't get it.
We got it and really enjoyed it. Even if you don't care for Zombies (and I know some of you don't) you might enjoy this one.
