I have never read the book, or indeed seen the lauded BBC adaptation, so based solely on what I saw, I have to say I hugely enjoyed it. Managing to remain both modern and of it's time, it engages you with the story and the characters straight away, and thanks to Joe Wright's wonderful eye for visuals and landscape, every scene looks cinematic and beautiful.
It's played very well, keeps you entertained throughout, and contains Keira Knightley at her most achingly beautiful.
