Review of Pride & Prejudice (2005) by Faaiz I — 20 Oct 2012
I have probably seen this movie more than 10 times. It never gets old. I like that it manages to capture the essence of the novel and brings it to life. The tension and the chemistry is kept well alive by the lead actors.
Keira Knightley pulls off the role quite brilliantly and convincingly as the strong, willful, witty yet stubborn Elizabeth Bennet. The whole setting, cinematography and direction bring a certain freshness to the movie which makes it appeal to the younger generation.
The dialogue is very well executed and the performances by the cast are appreciable. Pride and Prejudice manages to find the right blend of romance, drama and comedy which along with strong performances ensure that the film remains anything but another melodramatic cheese-ball.
Hats off to Wright for a brilliant adaptation and to Knightley for winning our hearts with a most remarkable performance.
