Review of Pride & Prejudice (2005) by Ryan P — 14 Jan 2013
I haven't read the book or seen any of its many other adaptations (heard the BBC TV mini-series is infinitely superior to all of them), so I can't say if this version does proper justice to the story.
I can report, though, that it was surprisingly enjoyable, with a fine anchoring performance by Keira Knightly. The production was excellent (costume design, art direction, cinematography, et al). Also, having seen some impressive direction skills on show in ''Atonement,'' I think Joe Wright is a filmmaker I definitely need to pay more attention to.
The way he moves the camera so smoothly in this is amazing. Dario Marianelli's score deserves some praise as well. All in all, a good film to get lost in for 2 hours.
