Review of Pride & Prejudice (2005) by Tyler S — 11 Jun 2015
Just not my type of movie. I agree with a previous reviewer in my opinion of the way women were treated during that time period. It's just depressing how they were basically required and expected to marry by a certain age and getting married was essentially the only path they could possibly take as well as the only thing that mattered to their families.
Plus I have just never really liked the story of Pride and Prejudice in the first place. I always lose track of what is going on and who is marrying who, nor do I find myself caring. I know people say you need to have read the book or need to watch the film at least twice to fully appreciate it but honestly a -really- good movie should reel me in on the first viewing, without any prior knowledge of the content or familiarity with source material. That said, Keira's performance as the main protagonist is pretty stellar. She fits the role perfectly.
