Austin's story seemed to be adapted to the 1940s being that everyone seemed to get along in the end and Mr. Whickam's indescretions were lightly hinted at. Laurence Olivier played a good portrayel of Mr.
Darcy and, apart from the over-the-top costumes, this version was a treat to watch.
