Review of Pride and Prejudice (1940) by Madeline M — 22 Jul 2007
While Greer Garson is an excellent Elizabeth, the cinematrography is very good and the last fifteen minutes are sweet and romantic, Olivier is not at all suited to the role of Darcy. He is overly friendly and nearly foppish in his manners - accusations of pride are, frankly, baffling.
The conflict is unbeilevable as a consequence.
