Review of Prick Up Your Ears (1987) by Haberdasher Z — 16 Apr 2008
I love this film! Oldman and Molina are perfect as the playwrit Joe Orton and his lover Kenneth Halliwell respectively. They start off as struggling playwrights, with Orton relying on Halliwell on financial support. However, after a life-changing stint in prison, the roles reverse and as Orton finds fame and longs for freedom from his increasingly paranoid lover in a world that frowned on homosexuality, tragedy ensures.
Vanessa Redgrave is equally perfect as Orton's agent but it is Oldman and Molina who carry the film and command the screen in their own right.
Go watch now!!!
