Review of Prey (2022) by Chubbs19 — 08 Aug 2022
It was a fairly entertaining film to watch but full of things that make it hardly immersive. There were nods to native american culture, my favourite being it showed the respect they had for nature regarding the scene where the protagonist finds the carcasses of many buffalo and I believe then prays for them. However the story is based on the modern idea of feminism that for a woman to be strong she needs to be like a man and to do that she needs to be a hunter with a gimicky tomahawk on a rope. I suppose though that the film is a piece of fiction.
The fight scenes are entertaining especially getting to see the predator using it's vast array of weaponry cutting people down left, right and centre whilst taking a few hits of its own. The final fight scene may seem to do the predator an injustice but the thing to remember is that just before it, it takes a shot to the back of the head which could explain it's inability to fight effectively or to think, however there were a couple of occasions where the predator could've killed the protagonist if it'd have acted as quickly as it did during the rest of the film and points in the final fight.
Overall it was an ok film that i'd probably not watch again with some modern politics thrown into it to give a false idea of the Comanche tribe.
