Review of Pretty Persuasion (2005) by Mark C — 15 Apr 2008
This film is an underrated classic that could possibly become another "Heathers" if more people see it. It throws political correctness out the window and stomps on it. Evan Rachel Wood is outstanding as Kimberly Joyce, a racist scheming backstabbing wannabe actress at an elitist Beverly Hills prep school.
Oddly her two best friends are a rival wannabe actress and a strict Muslim foreign exchange student. The three friends hatch a scheme to shame their despised English-Drama teacher played by Livingston in a media frenzy sexual harassment case.
The film goes from dark comedy to full blown drama as we learn Kimberly's true cruel intentions and the people she is willing to step on to achieve fame. A truly great film.
