Review of Pretty Persuasion (2005) by Cole W — 28 Oct 2008
Billed as a dark comedy, Pretty Persuasion is more precisely billed as a pitch black satire of modern life as seen through the eyes of a doe eyed teenage psychopath. Although she ultimately wrecks the lives of her friends, one can't help but be touched by the realization that she is merely reenacting what contemporary culture, indirectly, and those around her directly have already taken from her.
Sad and poetic, one begins to understand the monster and the contiuum of monsterhood by the end of the film.
