Review of Pretty Persuasion (2005) by Laura R — 26 Jul 2006

This movie is fucked in the head, but Evan Rachel Wood is brilliant, as usual. I didn't get all the satire and some of it was very unappreciated because it is actuallynot that funny sometimes. However, I did laugh and I did enjoy it and it wasn't a waste of time and it's smart.

It's very smart, but I think it gets confused. That's why it's not a 5 star movie for me. Is it a drama? A comedy? A satire? A social-issue movie? You can't make half of a movie just vicious and cutting, and then turn it into a drama.

I didn't want it to become serious at the end, I wanted it to stay sarcastic and satirical because that's what the rest of the movie had been.
