Review of Pretty Persuasion (2005) by Tania M — 16 Dec 2010
Very psycotic, twisted and convoluted.
Wood remains a great actress, and here is another eample of how she can hold it together with style.
It was wickedly funny at times and got you thinking of how some one can get away with nearly anything if they just put emotion aside.
Good script, but some of the quipy teen dialogue goes a bit too far.
At one point it just gets a little too dark and dreary. But the overall performance and story overshadows this part.
But Wood overshadows the rest of the cast. I know she is the intended lead, but there is almost no variation to other characters, only when she is manipulating or deceiving others do they dip their heads out from underneath the almost too thick plot, only to sink back down again.
But it wasn't bad at all. Made me feel all femme fatal and convoluted, I was wringing my hands for days afterwards.
