The redeemable character played by Jon Cryer is the most interesting thing in this film. Otherwise, it's kinda boring. Supposedly, Hughes had Ringwald's character end up with Duckie in the end in an earlier draft.
That I would have preferred. I didn't care much for McCarthy's character.
