Review of Presumed Innocent (1990) by Zachary P — 03 Feb 2011
Definitely a winner. A well crafted story that examines our notions of justice and integrity and also the vile natures that are brought by selfishness and sexual decadence. The performances are riveting especially Bonnie Bedelia's at the end.
The pacing is slow at points but John Spencer is a welcome sight and Ford brings something subtle and sad to this framing mystery which is unlike say the Fugitive's narrative. It's a courtroom thriller and a household drama and is ultimately about a man's mistakes catching up with him and testing him and those who love him in ways he never thought possible.
