Review of Presto (2008) by Kevin C — 19 Oct 2008
Film really takes a lot of its roots from Georges Melies, a magician at the turn of the century, and so it was a delight to see this short begin with the feel of that old time (and also served as a great reference to the magic on stage).
The whole of the piece was greatly entertaining, but my one gripe is timing of the comedy. Charlie Chaplin knew when, where, and how long to carry a joke before moving on to the next, and that element was missing from Presto-and so I watched the whole thing feeling as if something was off, despite laughing the whole while.
