Review of Premonition (2007) by Michael B — 22 Aug 2010
Interesting concept that is not well thought out. There are so many obvious errors that were so blatantly overlooked that it's impossible to take it seriously. So much of it was left unexplained. At both the beginning and the end I was utterly confused. What happened to her? Why did it happen for only a week? When did she stop living days out of order? Did she stop living days out of order? It just makes no sense.
Why was the little girl's face not cut up on the first day (Thursday) when it had happened on Tuesday? So many details overlooked. I was also not impressed with the characters of the film (Linda's mother and Dr. Roth especially). Could you create characters that were any more cliche? I couldn't really understand the point of having them in the film at all. They brought absolutely nothing of value to the story.
It started out pretty good and just got worse as it started to reveal the "truth" behind it all. It just doesn't make sense though. There's no reason for it to be happening. Memento is SO much better. If you're going to tell a story out of context at least give us a reason why the character is experiencing it out of sequence.
