Review of Premonition (2007) by Ian L — 09 Feb 2010
There seem to be a number of Directors around who manipulate the chronological sequence of events for the sake of effect, I find this irritating and rarely agree that it adds anything to a story.
In this case, the fact that events are out of sequence is fundamental to this story and presented as the order that the main character experiences them. An altogether better idea.
Ms Bullock carries all of the load in convincing us this is a real situation, something she manages perfectly well and proving that she is capable of far more than her typical comedy roles, (not that she makes a bad job of being a comedy actor, she just has some real range).
I see I'm scoring way above some of my peers, am I being too generous? My answer is that my scores try to recognise the effort involved in putting a feature film together competently, something that not all films manage, even if they've got to general release.
