Mind bending time travel that left my mind bended at the end. Actually watched this film twice to take in the nuances I missed the first time around. One must remind that this is science fiction and time travel is impossible in reality and so one shouldn't spoil the enjoyment of the film by trying to make sense of it.

To fully grasp the plot, one must however, pay close attention to the dates and the correct chronology of events so as to follow the transformation of the woman (Sarah Nook) into the man (Ethan Hawke).

At some point in the future, Ethan would travel back again to cause events to happen, among which, to make sure Sarah would be born to begin the never ending time loop. The great moral question and theme of the story is that if time travel was possible, can one change the past to get a new future? Or has the past already factored in the event of time travel of someone from the future.

So nothing really changes or can be changed. It is just an endless loop of events because everything has been predestined to happen, including the time travelling events.
