Review of Predestination (2013) by Midlands M — 29 Mar 2015
Predestination is one of those movies that you heard about a certain actor who steals the show. I also heard of it because of Brad Jones's top 20 best of 2014, which got me more curious than before.
So with this, I was hoping that this is better than Daybreakers, even though I really liked that movie too. For Predestination, it's actually way better than Daybreakers, and it's one of the best movies of 2014.
Ethan Hawke is terrific in this, but what got me interested in, is newcomer Sarah Snook who is absolutely fantastic as The Unmarried Mother and Jane when she uses her deep and regular voice which is really cool to see.
I really believe that she will have a great career ahead of her and I wish her all the best. The Spierig brothers did a fantastic job with the direction and the writing that I'm glad that everything is connected, not leaving any detail behind.
I was actually surprised that it's not entirely about time traveling which leads in to a lot of character development. The sound editing is really cool when it goes to time traveling. The twists are one of the best in a long time, and the soundtrack is really cool as it was composed by one of the directors.
The make-up looks amazing and definitely know how to make someone look old. Predestination in my top 3 of 2014, and I'm looking forward to more of Sarah Snook's films.
