Review of Predator 2 (1990) by Alex G — 16 Aug 2009
Despite a hilariously over the top opening much in the vein of a RoboCop--"the near future Los Angeles"--it loses its charm quick with terrible directing and choices and a repetitive aimlessness to the story.
The movie takes the small elements of sci-fi of the original and runs them right into the hokey and even fantasical and absurdist. It feels like something made for television reruns, with every death off-screen.
The cast is a lot of fun, but the script and directing (and choices about how to handle the alien) are so poor that it makes this film hard to enjoy for its full length.
