Review of Predator (1987) by Charles S — 10 Mar 2013
Although modestly simple in concept Predator succeeds in achieving exactly what it sets out to do. In the wake of the Alien films Predator may have been conceived as a by-the-numbers cash-in but it's pacing and direction are executed brilliantly and it's final creature reveal triumphantly surpasses expectation.
Arnold Schwarzenegger provides one of his most authentic performances, thanks in part to some Mexican food poisoning, and the supporting cast have all the bravado and testosterone needed to make this a truly "balls to the wall" action thriller.
