Review of Predator (1987) by Trevor R — 04 Apr 2013
The creature design is one of the most memorable in all of cinema (they dodged a bullet when Stan Winston was hired and replaced the original version). A great sci-fi action picture, with one of Schwarzenegger's best and most intense performances.
Like James Cameron, McTiernan knew how to utilize Arnold's larger-than-life presence for dramatic effect, and it totally works here. The homoerotic machismo goes laughably overboard during the exposition-filled first act, but it only gets better as things get scarier.
Suspenseful and fun.
