Review of Predator (1987) by Gavin M — 11 Oct 2016
Epic film making! John McTiernan is without a doubt one of the best action directors of all time! The director of "Die Hard" is in full command of this movie, as this is a movie that all action directors should take a look at and study at great length to see how a real action/sci-fi movie is made.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will always be the best action actor of all time in my opinion. He is without a doubt the most successful action star to ever live as he truly does better action movies than Stallone in my opinion.
And the rest of the cast in this movie including Carl Weathers who can best be remembered as Apollo Creed in "Rocky," is great to match up with against Schwarzenegger who has such confidence and unbelievable range that I'm shock he has never gotten past the action movies and been offered more serious roles.
And Sonny Landham as Billy is awesome and intimidating and has that apache feel to him that really makes his character look like a fierce and heacy warrior. Bill Duke as Mac is nothing but fierce intensity in the movie, as he really brings out the true nature of soldier and the conflicts a soldier faces on a daily basis fighting the enmy.
Jesse Ventura as Blane is just awesome to have in this movie, as no one, but Arnold of course, can manage and handle a mini gun the way Ventura does in this movie, and I'm not gonna lie, he makes it look a hell of a lot of fun! We also can't forget Richard Chaves as Poncho who is really good in this too and Stephen Hawkins as Hawkins makes geek soldiers look great! The whole movie works because of these major facts: Great casting, awesome music for the movie, and nothing but bulk ass guys in their prime and looks great fighting in the jungle.
It gives you that feel that this is what Special Forces is all about. But the real star of this movie that we cannot forget is Kevin Peter Hall who plays the Predator, because without him and his 7'2 status.
..their would be no movie.
