Review of Predator (1987) by Rob C — 24 Jan 2012
Predator was maybe the most iconic horror figure of the eighties for me. One, you couldn't see him and when you did, that was a sign of an unforgiving death. Two, when we looked through his eyes and how he percieved the world, it had a frightening ambience like someone or something was breathing in your ear and you couldn't do anything to stop it.
Then the way he imitated the voices of his targets, just replaying them back in creepy overtones. He was pretty much unstoppable, bred to be a warrior. What makes him worse is how he takes out the commandos with ease.
These guys are no pushovers and when they're seen as simply cattle to him, it makes for a very persuasive adversary. This is what you call a true predator. Every other sequel after this will never hold up to the original Predator.
